A Patio Planter Goes Limp After Heavy Rain
Murtek ยท Fictional learning case
Source organizations: University extension.
Case overview
Inez Flores waits out two days of rain before stepping onto the patio with her morning coffee. Her favorite planter, usually upright against the railing, is bent low and looks spent. Her neighbor Morgan says the wind probably did it. Inez remembers the wind, but she also remembers how the pot sat in the same corner through the night. She does not want to throw remedies at a plant just because it looks unhappy. Instead, she compares this morning with the planter's usual response after a dry spell, notices what is different around the container, and checks whether the change is holding steady. The case begins with one wet patio, two plausible stories, and a gardener deciding which ordinary detail deserves a closer look.
